This article gets into how you can use Ideate with AI to supplement your optimization brainstorming.
- Ideation Prompt – Describe the problems you're already aware of or ask questions and let the AI find solutions relevant to your design.
- For example:
- What if [audience segment] isn't completing [task description] from this page?
- Users come to this page from an email that promotes [campaign offer]. How do we tailor the design to that message?
- Analytics and behavioral data shows [negative behavior] on this page. How can we increase [positive behavior]?
- What if we add [widget description] to this page?

Why Use Ideate with AI?
Coming up with optimization ideas can be time-consuming, especially when trying to align them with business goals and user needs. Ideate with AI helps streamline this process by generating hypotheses and ideas based issues you know exist in your customer experience. Whether you have questions specific design elements or particular experience problems, this feature enables you to quickly explore potential improvements.
Unlike Evaluations, which assess how well your design aligns with known guidelines, Ideate with AI allows you to explore opportunities freely, making it ideal for brainstorming and innovation.
How It Works
What is an Opportunity prompt?
An Opportunity is a user-entered prompt that describes a challenge or question about a given view state. This can be a pain point, a potential experiment, or a broad question about optimizing the experience. The AI uses this prompt to generate hypotheses and ideas that could be tested in future optimizations.
For example: If you suspect that a checkout page has too much friction, you can enter a prompt like: “How can we reduce user drop-off at checkout?” The AI might suggest simplifying form fields, adding progress indicators, or providing reassurance messaging.
Example templates:
- What if [audience segment] isn't completing [task description] from this page?
- Users come to this page from an email that promotes [campaign offer]. How do we tailor the design to that message?
- Analytics and behavioral data shows [negative behavior] on this page. How can we increase [positive behavior]?
- What if we add [widget description] to this page?
Steps to Ideate with AI:
- Navigate to a View – Select a meaningful point in the customer journey where you want to generate ideas.
- Enter an Opportunity (Prompt) – Describe a challenge or ask a question related to the view state.
- Review Generated Ideas – The AI provides hypotheses and ideas based on your input.
- Archive or Iterate – Keep, refine, or remove ideas based on relevance.
